Reads & Listens
Sharing resources I have personally read or listened to that I think could benefit you, if you are wanting to better understand the children in your lives.
Regulation and parenting
Books:
The Whole-Brain Child by Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson
Easy to understand explanations of the brain, how it works, and concrete examples of how to help develop your child’s brain and regulation
The Explosive Child by Ross W Greene PhD
Self-Reg by Dr. Stuart Shanker
Simple and easy to read, so helpful in understanding dysregulation (tantrums, yelling, hitting, shutting down, etc.)
Fierce Self-Compassion by Dr. Kristin Neff
Although not explicitly about parenting, self-compassion can really make parenting a little easier. Side note, the author is the parent of an autistic child!
